Simexco Dak Lak Company’s Training for Farmers on “Sustainable and Responsible Production” in Compact Cu Mgar

As part of the Compact Programme 2024, Simexco Dak Lak Company (Dak Lak 2-9 Import and Export Joint Stock Company) held training sessions for over 900 farmers in the Cư Mgar Compact area from 20th to 25th March 2024. The training took place in the communes of Ea Kpam, Ea Pok, Ea Drong, Cuor Dang, and Cu Sue in the Cu Mgar district.

The training sessions covered various topics such as sustainable production, regenerative agriculture, soil nutrient management, weed control, organic fertiliser application, intercropping, replanting techniques, water management, post-harvesting, processing, and occupational safety and health.

Simexco's agricultural staff and guest lecturers shared their expertise, providing farmers with new knowledge and techniques for coffee cultivation and production, and insights into current market trends. The aim was to equip farmers with the understanding and skills necessary to embrace "Sustainable and Responsible Production," highlighting the importance of the Compact Programme and their own crucial roles in sustainable production, resource conservation, and environmental protection.

During the training sessions, Simexco agricultural staff and lecturers brought to light the new EU regulations prohibiting the import of agricultural products produced on land that has been deforested or degraded, including coffee. These regulations, set to effect by the end of 2024, have significant implications for the coffee industry and underscore the importance of sustainable practices.
