About

IDH, along with private sector partners, public actors, and civil society, has been working in the region since 2022 to create a shared agenda for sustainability in the coffee sector.

The ICCRL Program started in the early 2025 is being implemented in Kodagu, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru districts of Karnataka, and
Wayanad district of Kerala. These regions are known for their rich coffee landscapes and biodiversity, making them critical areas for sustainable interventions.

The ICCRL Program follows the IDH landscape approach, uses an innovative, integrated model to foster agricultural ecosystems that conserve and enhance natural resources and build community resilience whilst enabling businesses to source responsibly.

The ICCRL Program follows IDH’s Production, Protection, and Inclusion (PPI) framework, focusing on regenerative coffee production while ensuring environmental protection and social inclusion.

Interventions that support this approach include green growth planning, PPI compacts (or multi-stakeholder agreements), landscape governance and creating market linkages. This landscape approach bridges market demand for responsibly produced commodities with local governance, driving co-investment in regenerative production practices to enhance resilience and sustainability in these coffee-growing regions.
